Ctrl+shift+left-click gives right-click on Mac-OS-Host / Win10-Guest

Post by derfender »

Hello Everyone,

ctrl+shift+left-click gives a right-click on my Win10-Guest in VirtualBox (See my signature for specifications).
For example: On the Win-desktop ctrl+shift+left-click opens the context-menu.
This is bad for me because the program for which I needed windows in the first place (Rhinoceros 3D) has assigned some special features for this combination.
Frankly there's no way to change the shortcut in the program I'm using. Workarounds with Key-Mappers for Windows like SharpKeys etc. didn't work neither.

Is there a way to change this in the VirtualBox-Settings via a script or similar?
Does anyone have the same problem?

Thanks for your help!

Anybody and everybody that's ever used OSX. This is not your VirtualBox misbehaving, it's your default OSX's behavior; map Ctrl-Click to Right-Click. Try Ctrl-Click on your OSX, see what happens. Even on the desktop, not any specific application.

There is a potential solution however. It's called Karabiner (former KeyRemap) and it was primarily developed for the MacBookPro that didn't have a numeric keypad. I used to have it installed when I was on 10.6.x (I was using it for a flight simulator), but after I got in 10.9.x I never had a need for it (got myself a proper joystick).

Now, if in the title "Mac-OS-Host" means macOS (10.12.x), I'm afraid you're out of luck for the moment, and as far as I know.

Except, maybe, perhaps a really system-wide change. System Preferences » Keyboard » Modifier keys... » Control (^) key: None, or CapsLock. I am not at all sure if the Ctrl is still going to be going through to VirtualBox or not. Give it a shot...

EDIT: Here are some ideas as well (it's for 10.9, but it may work): http://apple.stackexchange.com/question ... -mavericks
