Strange problem with the Xp installation on linux

Post by polhallen »

Hi folks :-)

I using debian stable, with kernel 2.6.25.10, i386, with Asus P5B-E (Quad Core) with last bios update.

When I try to install xp, there're many errors like: impossible copy file hid.dll, if I continue the copy of files they're ok but later again another error: impossibile copy file ky.sys

This iso image run perfectly on other virtual box. (I've the same errors with vmware 6.0.4)

With other computer I created another xp virtual machine: this emulation runs perfectly. I moved this emulated os to Asus P5B-E, its runs but often many programs break down :-/ runs for a while but later stop!

Is it a quad core problem? Because I've many computers core 2 duo with vbox and vmware installaled and they're run perfectly!

What I'll do?
Thanks!

Sorry for my bad english :-(

Sounds to me as if you media / DVD reader on this PC is flawed. If media gets slightly dirty, distorted or scratched some DVD readers can cope with marginal CD/DVDs a lot better than others. If you get the same problems with VMware then its unlikely to be a VBox specific issue.
