I can't seem to get the shared clipboard feature working between Ubuntu 16.04 Host and Ubuntu 16.04 Guest. A few notes:
- The guest tools are installed on both the guest and the host:
Guest: virtualbox-guest-dkms is already the newest version (5.0.32-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2).
Host: virtualbox-guest-dkms is already the newest version (5.0.32-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2).
- I have "Shared Clipboard -> Bidirectional" selected
- Rebooting guest and host (of course)
- Dragging and dropping files from the guest to the host or vice versa works
- I've tried using right click copy, right click paste as well as ctrl+c and ctrl + v
- This also doesn't work with an UbuntU Host to Windows 2012 system.
Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot? What I missed? Why this isn't working?
Thanks
Brad

First issue is you are using the Ubuntu fork which is not supported here. You can ask them or remove theirs and install the official version from virtualbox.org
Re: Shared Clipboard between Ubuntu 16.04 Host and Ubuntu 16.04 Guest
I just uninstalled the Ubuntu fork tools, installed the official vbox additions, and rebooted. I now see this in the guest:
brad@localhost:~$ modinfo vboxguest filename: /lib/modules/4.4.0-62-generic/misc/vboxguest.ko version: 5.1.14 r112924 license: GPL description: Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Additions for Linux Module author: Oracle Corporation srcversion: 9F72BDC77F0EA293EBF655B alias: pci:v000080EEd0000CAFEsv00000000sd00000000bc*sc*i* depends: vermagic: 4.4.0-62-generic SMP mod_unload modversionsCopy/paste still doesn't work.

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.
And
Post the guests /var/log/vboxadd-install.log as an attachment.

Just a small comment:
Why would you do that? It's called "Guest Additions", not "Guest and Host Additions". They're meant to be installed in the guest. Only.bab5470 wrote:The guest tools are installed on both the guest and the host
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Because:Why would you do that? It's called "Guest Additions", not "Guest and Host Additions". They're meant to be installed in the guest. Only.
A) Copy/Paste wasn't working so I tried everything I could think of
B) I haven't used virtualbox a before and wasn't ware if they were required to be installed in the host as well
