I've created a bootable USB and installed LibereElec on a new VM via
http://www.howtogeek.com/187721/how-to- ... irtualbox/
The installation works but on boot i get the message:
failed to start xorg. is your GPU supported?
Is it possibele to run LibreElec in VirtualBox?

That isn't a Windows Hosts question: please choose a forum which suits your question. Moving this one to Linux Guests.
A VirtualBox VM doesn't have a GPU. If this distro tests for presence of one from a specific set of GPUs then it won't work.
All you can do is enable 3D acceleration, that gives the guest OS indirect access to the host GPU. If it requires direct access then you're done.

LibreElec is for Raspberry Pi, Vbox is x86 only.

LibreElec is for Raspberry Pi
as well. There is a generic x86-64 version, but it has a requirement for direct access to an AMD/Nvidia GPUs. See the downloads (
https://wiki.libreelec.tv/index.php?tit ... tor#Manual) and the FAQ (
https://wiki.libreelec.tv/index.php?tit ... _I_need.3F).

How will that change the LibreElec requirements?
