Starting dual monitor VM -> 2nd screen shows on wrong workspace

Post by b-roth »

Hello all!

I discovered an issue on Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 (64-Bit host) - maybe I am not alone and someone has experienced the same issue as well:

When a fullscreen dual monitor VM is (re)started on an inactive/invisible workspace, once the graphical GUI is started, the 2nd VM screen/monitor is shown on the active workspace.

Issue confirmed in VB 5.0.32 and 5.1.14

How to reproduce:

Ubuntu host has two screens and two or more workspaces.
A Windows 7 VM (I have not checked other OSes) is started in full screen on workspace 2.
Now reboot the Windows VM and immediately switch to another workspace. The VM should be and stay invisible.

Unfortunately always the 2nd screen/monitor windows of that VM is shown fullscreen on the active workspace.
The first VM screen on the hosts primary display always stays in the assigned workspace. Only the 2nd screen behaves strange.

What I suspect:

Either the window manager or VB shall keep track about the display and workspace number. It seems this works (maybe automatic?) for the first VM window but not for the second.

Best regards,
Bernhard
