Minimze then unminimize guest, guest screen now shifted down

Post by mps »

I've been living with this problem for several months and can't find something like it in the forums. My initial guess is this is Linux host related.
Background / Context
  • VBox 5.1.12 & guest additions
  • Fedora 24 64bit host with Win7, Win10, WinXP, and CentOS7 guests
  • Full screen host & guests are 1920 x 1200
  • Problem new with Fedora 24, Fedora 21 & 18 never had the problem
Recreate the problem:
  1. Launch vbox for Win10 guest
  2. Guest full screen appears, perfect, a-ok
  3. Minimize vm via guest menu "-" button, a-ok
  4. Unminimize guest via Fedora24 taskbar, PROBLEM: guest screen appears and is shifted down approx 5%, e.g. 90% of Win10 taskbar is pushed off screen
  5. Use guest menu to turn off full screen, a-ok
  6. Use guest menu to turn on full screen, a-ok, guest screen back to perfect
My host & guest settings haven't changed between Fedora versions as far as I know.

Regards,
Mike

Something doesn't sound right in your description between steps 2 and 3. How do you minimize a full-screen client via the "-" widget, since there is no "-" widget if you're in full screen? Maybe you mean maximized?

In any event, with the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log". Save the "VBox.log" (just the first one), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form).
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Socratis, Tx for the quick reply.
My terminology was sloppy. Step 3 should be something like:
3. minimize guest vm screen via the "Minimize Window" widget on the guest's vbox menu bar. The host screen appears, a-ok.

I've attached the log from performing the 6 steps + close vm.
