Hi,
I use a Dell T20 with 24 GB RAM and several harddrives.
I installed OMV and the virtualbox-plugin.
After installing i tried to login but i cant.
Whatever i use as password and login, I allways get an error " invalid username or password".
I tried admin / admin, several accounts from OMV, including root, admin and accopunts with adminrights
Nothing worked.
Any idea?

Re: cant login / VBox-pugin for OMV
What is an "OMV"? From Wikipedia:
The thing is that as soon as I typed "OMV VirtualBox p...", one of the proposed searches was "OMV VirtualBox password". Maybe that can help you with your problem?
Because unless you happen to find another OMV user in the forums, this is not something to do with VirtualBox. VirtualBox does not have a password or login credentials. Just like your computer (the hardware I mean) doesn't have one.
- OMV, an oil-producing, refining and gas station operating company in Austria
- Oblati di Maria Vergine (Oblates of the Virgin Mary), a religious order of the Catholic Church
- Omotic languages (ISO 639-5 language code)
- OpenMediaVault, a free network-attached storage server
- Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle, defunct NASA space tug design

Re: cant login / VBox-pugin for OMV
Hi,
thanks for your reply and you are right, I should have described the problem better...
Yes, I know this forum is about virtualbox and my problem is with virtualbox and openmediavault.
So, I am between the chairs...
So I asked here and there.
Anyway, the problem is solved now.
I had to uninstall the virtualbox-plugin and reinstall it.
Then dlete che accounts in OMV and recreate them.
After this the login worked.
My next problem is to access the VMs.
Because all I have is the userinterface of virtualbox, but i can´t open any console.
Is there a way to access the console in any other way?
I tried RDP wia the link provided in the Vbox-interface: So i connected to 192.168.178.87:3389.
But this leads me to the host (openmediavault) instead of the wanted VM(arch-linux)
So i checked the fritz.box and:
So i connected to 192.168.178.90:3389.
But then I get an error...

Re: cant login / VBox-pugin for OMV
Once again, I'm not familiar with OMV and what does VirtualBox plugin for OMV is. If it's a standard VirtualBox installation, I could guide you. But I wouldn't know where to begin with this setup, except searching for help in the OMV forums. That is of course unless someone else in these forums has an idea...

Re: cant login / VBox-pugin for OMV
When you connect via RDP, you connect to the host's IP. If the host is also running an RDP server, it would be a good idea to change the port of the VM.
From the User Manual, Ch. 7.1 Remote display (VRDP support):
From the User Manual, Ch. 7.1 Remote display (VRDP support):
It's a good chapter to read if you want to get things going...By default, the VRDP server uses TCP port 3389. You will need to change the default port if you run more than one VRDP server, since the port can only be used by one server at a time; you might also need to change it on Windows hosts since the default port might already be used by the RDP server that is built into Windows itself. Ports 5000 through 5050 are typically not used and might be a good choice.
...
7.1.1 Common third-party RDP viewers
Since VRDP is backwards-compatible to RDP, you can use any standard RDP viewer to connect to such a remote virtual machine (examples follow below). For this to work, you must specify the IP address of your host system (not of the virtual machine!) as the server address to connect to, as well as the port number that the VRDP server is using.

Re: cant login / VBox-pugin for OMV
Thank you so much - seems like this was exacly what I needed to do.
Changed 3389 to 5049 and everything works
Used rdp and allmost instantly got access.
So, thank you
