Just installed virtual box on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS server and have not been able to get the `service vboxautostart-service start` to work.
Errors out with: Failed to start vboxautostart-service.service: Unit vboxautostart-service.service not found.
Any ideas on how to get this working? I have followed the tutorials around the web but get stuck once I try to start the service.
VBoxManage --version
5.0.24_Ubuntur108355
I did install Virtualbox via apt so I am unsure if this would be causing the service to not be recognized?
Thanks for the help.

Re: Autostart service not recognized using Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
It looks like you're using the distro's fork version of VirtualBox. You can either ask in their forums for help, or completely remove their version and install the official version from the Downloads section of VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads).sterfry1988 wrote:5.0.24_Ubuntu r108355

As for the VBoxService autostart details, please read Ch. 9.24 Starting virtual machines during system boot.

Re: Autostart service not recognized using Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Just adding another vote. I went with the official version from the website, and everything works great, including autostart (on ubuntu 16.04). I am not a fan of 'distro customized' stuff as far as possible ...so ... I approve of this solutionsocratis wrote:It looks like you're using the distro's fork version of VirtualBox.
