Can't download extension pack for virtualbox 5.1.12

Post by CharlieChaplin »

Hi! I am 100% new to this and I'm trying to download the extension pack, but it keeps saying the installation failed, "The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: Membership in the Administrators group is required to perform this action." Can anyone tell me what this means?

Do you have McAfee installed or any other antivirus that is blocking the installation?
Are you an administrator or have administrator rights? You are modifying the %ProgramFiles% directory after all...
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I do have McAfee! Could that be my problem?
And I don't know what the 2nd line of your response meant . . . sorry I'm a TOTAL newbie.

Yes, disable it. It has already been answered several time before in the forums...

The 2nd part means that you have to be an Administrator versus a Simple User.
