VirtualBox 5.1 on Ubuntu

Post by julyjim »

Due to inability to automatically update my original VirtualBox version I have uninstalled it and installed the latest version for Ubuntu 16.04.
I am unable to run Windows setup there are no options to select the setup CD as the 5.0 version had.
I am not aware of any other way to setup Windows in VirtualBox, it worked fined in version5.0.

I am guessing reinstalling this version would be reasonable step, however , when I uinistalled the older 5.0 version the new version still had the virtual Windows accessible, but not working.

My question I like to get answered - how do I remove remove / clean my current VirtualBox version?

If this has been asked before , please , do not crucify me , just ignore my post - I do not want to waste your time nor engage in procedural discussion, either you can help me as I ask or not.

Debian type Linux can remove and get rid of all traces of the programs installed by using the command line and purge. So apt-get purge <application>
Keep in mind that the guest will not be purged as it is considered data.
