Hi!

my first post here!
I'm from Brazil, living in Angola, and my English is very ugly!!

well...
I created few months ago a Windows XP VM (using the XP Mode method) under W10, but I dont like W10 and the downgrade for W7 is imposible.

I changed the HD to a new and install a Ubuntu 16.10 in the laptop and tried move the VM to the Ubuntu.

The fisrts steps are OK, the VM works, but...

the Windows aks for a registry.

In W10, I used a pcbios.bin (VMlite) to skip this problem, but when I do the same process in Ubuntu, the VM starts but keep in a black window.

Someone have an ideia about it???

as I understand your description, you have created a virtual WinXP within Windows with Microsoft-Tools and now want to run this with virtualbox?

well, windows insists on that hardware, which it sees on installation. it's completely normal, that your virtualised system doesn't come up.

you may have a luck, that windows doesn't complain, running identical VM (eg. virtualbox on windows host, then virtualbox on linux host), but even then it might fail.

so: drop your WinXP-installation, create a new one and if you then want to use it on a windows-host, use virtualbox there, too - perhaps it works.

and note: windows have complex mechanisms for activation, so even switching to a totally different hardware (amd-cpu instead of intel or vice-versa) while keeping the host-OS may force the need of a re-activation. this is because many things of the host-hardware may be seen by virtualized windows when using hardware-virtualization.
