USB audio interface in virtual box

I'm attempting to use voice recognition software in a Windows 10 virtual machine using an Ubuntu host. I am attempting to use an external USB audio interface for this purpose (specifically the focusrite scarlet solo, although that doesn't matter for my question). Is this at all possible? I have tried installing the driver for this audio interface on the guest machine, to no avail.

Maybe. See

If it doesn't work with xHCI emulation in the guest then it doesn't work and quite possibly can't be made to work. It all depends on how the specific audio interface is implemented.
Generic USB audio class devices ought to work. Custom USB audio devices are hit or miss.

Thank you, changing to X HCI emulation made it work, much appreciated!

That's good to know, thanks for reporting back!
So that was Focusrite Scarlett Solo, and Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 is also reported to work. From my own experience I know that Roland Duo-Capture and Quad-Capture work in VMs as well.
