Installing undetectable VM with Windows 7

Post by AlexDerGrosse »

Hi,

i want to start some Applications in a Windows 7-VM, but they detect the VM and don't start. I found this http://www.kernelmode.info/forum/viewto ... =11&t=3478, but its from 2014 and its for Windows Host. Can i do this Steps on a Windows 7-Host, then install the Windows 7-VM, export the VM and import it on my Ubuntu-Host? Or is there an other Way to install an undecectable Windows 7-VM on Linux Host?

The host OS makes no difference to software running in the VM. It can't even see what your host OS is except implicitly (if I'm a VM and seem to be networked to a Linux PC then that PC is probably the host).

It isn't possible to make a VM that guest software can't detect, unless the programmer was really dumb. Obviously the programmer knows about VMs otherwise you wouldn't get a message about it. That means he also knows that you'll try to fool him, so he'll do tests that can't be fooled, such as timing tests plus tests for long obsolete hardware, etc.
