hi
i have created a vm "win 10 64 bits" with ide/sata/scsi/sas controllers (virtualbox 5.1.10)
the windows hardrive is on the ide
in the device manger the scsi driver is not installed
windows_10_multiple_editions_version_1607_updated_jul_2016_x64_dvd.iso
-the tools cd does not correct the problem
-the dvd windows does not correct the problem
i don't know if win 7/8 are impacted
this problem is due to the buyback of LSI Corporation by Broadcom ?

Re: scsi driver not installed
Ask Microsoft what they do or don't support out of the box.
The VirtualBox policy is to support guest OS/driver combinations that work, not those that don't.

Re: scsi driver not installed
Just for kicks I put scsi and SAS controllers on a Windows 7 guest, no hard drives attached. The controllers appeared in Windows Device Manager and drivers loaded.
Maybe Windows 10 has changed how they handle controllers with no drives attached? What happens when you attach a vdi to each controller?
