With the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log". Save the "VBox.log" (just the first one), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).

Also, full details on the guest that you want to install, version, where did you downloaded from, etc.

You do not have permissions to that file.
I see that the .VBOX file is on "/media/...". Is that a read-only medium? Do you have read-write access?

Well, you could:

1. Keep working on what was working, or
2. Try to fix it.

The problem is simple: you do not have read-write access to "/media/...". I cannot solve it from here. I don't have access to your computer or your "/media/...". I don't even know:

• what is your host.
• what is the host that it used to work.
• what is your guest.
• what is the VirtualBox version on your host.
• what is the VirtualBox version on the host that used to work.
• what format "/media/..." is. That's the most important.

And for all of these I mean exact versions, not simply "XUbuntu". That's too general.

Thank you, but still there are questions. VirtualBox simply reports the problem: you do not have read-write access. Maybe some user ID changes? Some group ID changes? But this is not a VirtualBox problem, it's a filesystem permissions problem.
