[SOLVED] The DEK for this disk is missing
Posted: 25. Nov 2016, 13:33
Hi guys,
I have an encrypted image of Ubuntu Server 16.10. Since the upgrade from Virtualbox 5.1.8 to 5.1.10, the image will not boot up as it pause immediately at the boot. I checked the log files and I see "The DEK for this disk is missing" error message. The Data Encryption Key is stored in the .vbox folder and if I go in there and open the file with an editor is there!
Why he cannot see it anymore? Do I need to change the path somewhere else ?
Thank you for your help!
EDIT : Ok, somehow the extension pack was removed so I reinstalled it and now it boots up asking the password for the decryption. So the DEK will work with the extension pack installed. I hope this will help someone
