Not enough memory in Windows 7

Post by rdonnelly62 »

Hi I am running a Linux host and Win 7 32 bit guest. I am only able to give 6848 MB of ram to the machine. When I try and update with Windows update I get an error that there is not enough memory. When I try to install a program that says in requires 2 GB of Ram, it crashes with an Appcrash error before I get it installed. Been a long time hold out for an XP guest, but now I am forced to go to a newer version of windows, any way to give it more physical ram, if I go above 6848 MB it will not allow me to click okay to save the settings.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks Bo

With the VM shut down completely (not paused or saved), right-click on the VirtualBox Manager and select Show Log. Save it (just the first one), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

I just noticed the following:

That's way too much memory for a 32-bit guest. They can't see it. Only about 3.5 GB max. By definition.
