Running Linux Mint 18 host and Linux Mint 18 guest with VB Version 5.1.8 r111374 (Qt5.5.1)
I am trying to test Digikam, a photo management package, but I cannot see my camera.
I have enabled USB and if I plug in a memory sick that works fine, but I don't see my camera. My camera works fine with Digikam directly on the host, just not in VB
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mick

Re: Camera Support
Moved to Linux Hosts.
You can do one of two things: you can leave the webcam owned by the host, and use the webcam passthrough feature described in section 9.7. Did you try this?
Another thing you can do is grab ownership of the camera in the VM. The host will lose the use of it. This is the option you seem to be following though I notice you haven't mentioned installing a driver in the guest OS. Did you do that? Or does the guest OS have native support for this device?

Re: Camera Support
I found the problem, or at least part of it. The version of Digikam I installed has an issue with discovering a camera. I installed a different version but now have a problem with VB crashing. I will create another post for that.
