Issues with Silverlight and Now TV

Post by Django89 »

I have done plenty of searching to resolve the problem I am experiencing, but it seems there is no recent discussion on this area that I can find:

My host machine is Linux Mint Cinnamon Rafaela 64 bit. I have created two guest machines, Windows XP, and Windows 8.1, both 32 bit with guest additions installed. In neither case, can I get Now TV working, due to compatibility issues with Microsoft Silverlight. I keep getting error t:6030/ c:4110 "there is a problem with audio/visual outputs". I am using Firefox (as nothing else entertains Silverlight), and have attempted to reinstall Silverlight or install an older version etc. etc. and still the problem remains. Hyper-V is enabled within Virtualbox, but I have disabled it in the guest (as a suggestion in another forum) but still no resolution. All other streaming is fine, in fact great in the Windows 8.1 guest. Netflix runs easily, but I understand Netflix has ditched Silverlight...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... I think it's about time Now TV ditched the use of the antiquated Silverlight that isn't even being developed any more and is apparently due to phase out by 2021, but that's a long time to wait!

Hyper-V should have nothing to do with that, but "within the VirtualBox" would imply on the guest, since that's running within VirtualBox, unless you mean in the Settings of the VM.

I don't have NowTV (and I don't plan on it) but they suggest their own app. Did you try that instead of going the long route?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Thanks socratis, I spent that much time trying to sort it on XP, I completely forgot the app existed!
Unfortunately NowTV seems to consider the app as a separate device (despite being on the same guest!) so I'll have to wait until December 1st to check it works due to their device cap...
