Having been so positive in the first post (Update) I do have one issue. Dreamweaver will not acknowledge the CSS file of my web sites. Any suggestions?

J I am at a loss as to why this relates to your VBox use. This isn't a general Linux support forum
Is there a VBox specific dimension here? If so you haven't explained it.

My apologies - Terry E:oops: - I am running Virtual Box on a PCLinux2007 host with WinXP as guest. DreamWeaver is loaded onto the WinXP in the VM As my version of DreamWeaver works in the XP on dual boot, but does not work on the VM, I think that it may be a Virtual Box issue.

If the CSS is from a Shared Folder, then it's indeed a small VB issue. Actually, it's more of a DreamWeaver issue, as only DW has problems with the files on Shared Folders. I do not have a fix for it, other than copying the css file to the VM hard disk, edit it and copy it back to the SF.

Yes, the CSS is in the shared file. I may move my website files onto the VM HD - and back them up to the actual physical HD.
Thanks.

Youl could try to access the shared folder by normal network share. Set up Samba to share your website folder and DW should be able to work with it properly. If you use NAT, access the shares using 10.0.2.2\sharename, else with HIF you use the normal host IP.

Thanks Sas - I am going to have to leave off trying to get my VM to function properly as we are moving next week and the MRS would like to become at least minimally involved with the move!!!
Will pick this up once we're settled.
Thanks again to all.
Similar issue--permissions with DW CS3 on Windows Guest

So, I'm having a similar issue. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 with VBox 2.0 and have installed XP Pro and then Dreamweaver CS3.
I can access the Shared folder if I go through Windows Explorer, but as soon as I tried with DW, I got "no access" errors. I read through the posts, reinstalled Guest Additions and that did not resolve it. Then I changed the access model to use Samba and shared it. Dreamweaver was then able to open and read the file, but cannot save any files because of the No Access thing.
Truthfully, I would just use Kompozer, but can't figure out how to manipulate the GUI part of a PHP page with it.
Any ideas on the No Access would be appreciated.
Thanks.
