Hello,
I'm using virtualbox 5.1.8, with Ubuntu 16, 64bit.
This is my first time on Linux so maybe i'm not using it well enough, but i followed some tutorials to install a software i downloaded.
At the start i have to use the command 'cd' , but it doesn't work... I don't know exactly if this is a problem from virtualbox or me.
For exemple maybe the path isn't what it is supposed to be because it's emulated..
Thanks
Urgent : can't install on Ubuntu

If you haven't even installed VirtualBox yet then, by definition, any problem you have can't be with VirtualBox.
"cd" is one of the most basic terminal commands in DOS/Unix, if you don't even know how to use simple terminal commands then maybe you should park VirtualBox for now, and go visit a website that introduces you to Linux (and command line in general).

Re: Urgent : can't install on Ubuntu
The way I read his post is that he's using VirtualBox to run a Linux guest and didn't know if the cd command he was typing would be different inside of the guest because of VirtualBox.mpack wrote:If you haven't even installed VirtualBox yet then, by definition, any problem you have can't be with VirtualBox.
Ezekiel2510: This is the forum for VirtualBox discussions where you're running VMs under a Linux computer, not for running a Linux guest under another OS. Also, no - your problem is not related to VirtualBox; directory paths work exactly the same inside a VM as on a standalone computer.

Hmm. Perhaps you're right. I read the OPs post (and forum choice) as saying that he had problems installing VirtualBox on a Linux host. But yes, perhaps the question makes more sense if he meant he was having problems installing other software within a Linux guest.
Pending clarification to the contrary, I'll move this topic to Linux Guests (for the future, it was in Linux Hosts).
