Unable to resume saved state of an XP Machine

Post by bismark »

I use to be able to save and resume my VM state without an issue. Now however I keep getting the following error

Unable to restore the virtual machine's saved state from '/home/bismark/VirtualBox/Machines/winxp/Snapshots/{80d6091f-43eb-4d7f-38b6-08c535367f7d}.sav'. It may be damaged or from an older version of VirtualBox. Please discard the saved state before starting the virtual machine.
VBox status code: -1825 (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH).

Result Code:
0x80004005
Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {d5a1cbda-f5d7-4824-9afe-d640c94c7dcf}

Ubuntu 8.04 /w VBox 1.6.2 and GuestAdditions 1.6.0 (also errors out with 1.6.2)

Any ideas?

failed to start my VB for WinXP

I have the same problem. Before today all worked well, but today I get the error "Unable to restore the vMachine's saved state ..."

I am running a current release of Kubuntu and have a fresh install of VirtualBox. I did however import a copy of my WinXP virtual drive from another hard drive over the weekend. I was able to get it up/running w/o problem.

Well it seems to be only my VM that was transferred from an older virtualbox-oe install. A new install of winxp was able to suspend and restore.

Anyone have any ideas what file(s)\settings could be left around that might be preventing this?

^bump^

I just upgraded to 1.6.4 and now my WinXP virtual machines are doing this again.

VBox status code: -1825 (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CONFIG_MISMATCH).

I built a completely new image and it worked at first, but now it too is having problems restoring. Does anyone have any ideas on where to look to diagnose what's going on?

Please go to the bugtracker at www.virtualbox.org and add your findings there. Your problem might be related to http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/1979 . If that is true then please attach your VBox.log file to that ticket.

Will do, major brain lapse there, didn't even think about it being SP3, which I have installed.

Strange, I have several XP SP3 VMs running, all in saved state and perfectly resumable.
