Problem on reboot and shutdown PC

Post by satimis »

Hi all,

Host Ubuntu 16.04
Oracle VirtualBox

On shutdown following warning popup

Code: Select all

Virtual Box cannot connect to X server
The PC hangs. I have to turn it off manually.

In one occasion on rebooting PC, above warning also popup. It hung a while and then rebooted.

However I can start Virtualbox and VMs without problem. Please advise where shall I check and how to fix the problem.

TIA

Regards

Where is the Minimum information needed for assistance? And a detailed description of the steps to reproduce it? For example "On shutdown..." of the host or the guest? Come on satimis, you definitely should know by now what to do when asking for help. You're not a new user anymore...

On my posting the subject is "Problem on reboot and shutdown PC" not VMs. On the posting it was mentioned "The PC hangs. I have to turn it off manually." not VMs

VMs were not started nor running

VirtualBox
Version 5.0.26 r108824

So, wait a minute.
You're trying to shut it down and if freezes with a VirtualBox error message sometimes?
And this happens without even starting VirtualBox?
But VirtualBox works correctly?
It's only the host's shutdown/reboot process?
Is that the situation?

Yes. You're right.

I just provided additional information that VMs were NOT running. They are working without problem

Thanks
