VM gets hang

Post by adiiit2016 »

Dear Sir,
I am using Virtual Box version 5.1.4 and i am running ubuntu 14.04 in it. My host operating system is windows 7 sp1. The problem that i am facing is that-- From mine ubuntu terminal i am trying to download some files which takes hours. But after some time i found that mine VM gets hanged and as a observation i found that arrow pointer is not there and also there is no activity on SATA hard disk indicator as well as on network activity indicator. I have shut down mine vm and again started but the problem is same. And i am observing this particular behavior after i have taken the snapshot of mine running machine.

Please tell me what to do now.

Regards
Aditya

You don't mention two critical clues:
- Is your host 64-bit?
- Are you using VirtualBox shared folders for the transfer?
If you answered yes to these questions, take a look at ticket #15662: Shared Folders freeze under pressure.
If not, post a VBox.log. ZIPped.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Sir,
yes I HAVE ENABLED THE SHARED FOLDER OPTION BUT WHILE DOWNLOADING FROM THE INTERNET I M NOT USING THIS FOLDER BY ANY CHANCE.MINE ONLY OBSERVATION IS THIS :- WHEN DOWNLODING THEN BOTH N/W ACTIVITY AS WELL AS SATA HARD DISCTIVITY IN THE VM GUI IS BLINKING GREEN AND RED CONTINUOSLY. ONCE IT GETS HANGED NONE NO ACTIVITY IS THERE EITHER ON N/W ICON OR ON SATA HARD DISK ICON IN THE VM .

  1. I asked for the VBox.log.zip. With the VM shutdown, right-click on the VM, show log, ZIP it (just the first one), attach it to your response.
  2. Did you try to download the "files" from your host? Did you try to download other "files" from somewhere else? Maybe the website you're trying to download from is having problems?
  3. YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY IS STUCK! And don't use CAPS again please. It's difficult to read.
