Small update...
I have a second Windows 10 VM running on the same host and using the same screens, but I have not updated GA on that VM to 5.1.6 - it's still on 5.1.4. On that VM the screens work just fine.
I should add that copy/paste between host and guest also works fine on the guest running GA 5.1.4, but not on the one running 5.1.6
Maybe Windows is innocent for a change...

You know that you can install GAs at will? Whatever version you want, right? So, if on your "problematic" VM you have 5.1.6 GAs, can you install the 5.1.4 and see if that fixes it? Just browse your way through http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/
In this case it would be: http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualb ... _5.1.4.iso

Re: Screen resolution unavailable
Hi again,
Uninstalled 5.1.6 and installed 5.1.4 - same issue. Copy/paste between guest and host is also still unavailable.
Thanks for the suggestion though
EDIT: Uninstalled and reinstalled GA - not VB

Have you tried HRC? HotKey Resolution Changer - it is an old application that I use in XP guests to force resolution changes, up to 6400x1200. It allows you to create a shortcut that references a particular resolution. I'd post pictures of the configuration/shortcuts, but can't do so until tomorrow.Rune B wrote:Hi again,

Re: Screen resolution unavailable
Hi hd,
No - I haven't tried anything like that. There's something in the latest versions of VB and/or GA that isn't quite right and the screen resolution is only the most annoying part of it. There's also a lack of support for bidirectional clipboard as reported by others as well.
It feels like something went wrong, either in a Windows update or in the VB/GA drivers, and now the VM is "stuck" in this faulty state.
I just updated to 5.1.8 both VB and GA, but that did not change anything. I haven't had time to try all the tips I've received again yet, but just updating did not help.

Re: Screen resolution unavailable
Good news!
VB 5.1.10 solved the issue. I upgraded and installed the new Guest Additions and after a reboot, both screens returned to their full size. This also solved the lack of bi-directional clipboard, so now all is back to normal.
