Unusual behavior with fbpanel and Fluxbox

Post by WillBProggin »

Greetings,

I am running VirtualBox Version 5.1.6 r110634 (Qt5.6.1) on Slackware Linux 14.2 64-bit. When I start the VirtualBox manager, and also when I start a virtual machine, my screen blinks momentarily. When I start a virtual machine, I lose the ability to right-click buttons in my task manager (fbpanel). I have to left-click a few other buttons, then I am finally able to right-click my task manager buttons again. Once the VirtualBox manager and virtual machine are closed, I am able to right-click task manager buttons again.

I have been using fbpanel and Fluxbox for quite a long time and have not ever had this problem until using the recent version of VirtualBox. When I used a much older version of VirtualBox this did not happen. I'm going to download and install an older version and will report back soon.

I am using a normal Xorg setup (1.18.4) -- no Wayland or Compiz. I am using Fluxbox 1.3.7 and fbpanel 6.1. Video card chip is AMD Radeon HD 6670.

Besides trying an older version (which I'm about to do), does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Will B

After trying out (the now unsupported) version 4.3.38 of VirtualBox on the same Linux setup, I do NOT have the aforementioned issues. It appears to be something that started with the latest VirtualBox update.

Thanks.
