Complete Lockup of Host while using Win10 Guest

Post by oneleaf »

Hello,
Been using Virtualbox for many years and never had a problem with the host locking up, so I wanted to get some insight on how to troubleshoot this.
  • Virtualbox version 5.0.24 (from the Ubuntu repositories)
  • Host: Linux Mint Mate 18 (based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) on a new Skylake build with 16 GB RAM
  • Guest: Windows 10 Professional x64
  • Log: Attached
  • Crash of Host: This happens when doing something routine on the Guest. Complete lockup of the Host (and Guest). Cannot ssh into host from another computer. Only a hard reset or power off will work.
  • Additional Details: Using 1 virtual CPU, and 4 GB of RAM on the guest. There are no other guests running and there is lots of RAM to spare. i5-6600 CPU doesn't seem to be pushing very hard. And this system has been rock solid with applications that push the RAM and CPU usage much harder than this Virtualbox guest.
Any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated!

Not a lot we can say since you are running the repo fork of VirtualBox. You would need to ask them what might be wrong, or remove theirs and install the official build from VirtualBox.org
