Networking assistance

Hi all please forgive me I've read all the manuals and spend several days on google...But I just cant seem to answer this question.

I' running Ubuntu 8 as the Host system and Ubuntu server as the guest.

I've selected NAT because its the only way I can get this to work. In the server when I do ifconfig I get network settings of 10.0.0.x Which makes sense Vbox is creating that for me.

However What I want to do is setup the server so that it connects "pulls" and ip address from my router 192.168.1.x network.

What setting do i use?

VBox Version: VirtualBox+Oracle ExtPack
Guest OSses: Ubuntu 10.04 & 11.10, both Svr&Wstn, Debian, CentOS

If you want your guest to participate in the network as any other DHCP client, you can't use NAT. You have to use bridging. This is a little more complicated to set up, but it can be done. The user guide contains some useful guidance and there are some good step-by-step guideline out there. See below...
