Working Virtual Box

Post by sockmonkey »

Using the instructions from this site, I've tried installing VirtualBox on 5.1.4 on the newest versions of openSUSE, Debian, Fedora, Mint.
Of course none of the installations worked. Each had problems either not starting or not recognizing shared folders or USB drives.
When a version of VirtualBox is released, has it actually been tested?
All the questions in these forums indicate people spend thousands of hours trying to get VB to work.
That's inexcusable.

Took me less than 15 minutes to get it working.

Perhaps Installing from your Distro's repositories where much of the integration is handled for you would be easier.
I've done it both ways.

Just be aware that if you install a fork (e.g. the Ubuntu distro version) then you don't get support for it here. Here we only support the real thing.
