VB won't play audio CDs

Post by ted kennedy »

Hi
I am a novice with VB.
I use two virtual computers(Ubuntu 8.04 and XP SP3) on an XP pro host. Both have the same problem using either of my DVD/CD drives. I can access data CDs without a problem and players such as Media player or Amarok will identify an audio disk (& even give accurate track titles, duration etc) but any attempt to play or rip the music fails, often causing the virtual machine to hang. Music files on a USB key (MP3 and MPA) are handled fine by both virtual machines.
If I try to start the Ubuntu machine with an audio disk in the allocated drive then it hangs during the boot process.
What am I missing?
:?

Thanks for that speedy response. At least I now know not to spend time trying to correct what I believed was a fault.
Following up your leads also showed me that I need to learn an awful lot of acronyms if I am to hold my own in these forums!
Thanks again.

I am not sure what's more amazing: the material that is out there on the internet these days, or how good a tool google is for finding it :P
