Hi,

I've managed to set up my Windows XP virtual machine correctly, and hide the Guest Additions icon, but I've been wondering how I can change the MSInfo32 on the guest, with a linux host. I know this is possible, and it has been done before, but all the commands/scripts I have found are for Windows guests. Can anyone help me? I know it's probably just a simple Vboxmanage command, but which one???

What do you mean by "change the MSInfo32 on the guest"?

FWIW, although I am not a Linux guy, I would believe that the only thing that changes when using Vboxmanage on a Linux host is all the stuff you'd do before you get to typing the word "Vboxmanage". The command switches thereafter should still be the same.

Ookay... I did it and it now says:

"Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows XP Professional SP3.

The number begin converted (string) contained no digits. (VERR_NO_DIGITS).

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention - I meant that I would like to change what shows up in MSInfo32 on the host (Windows XP)...

Perhaps you could clarify exactly what setup you have.

There appears to be a contradiction between your first post, which states

with a linux host

and your last which states

on the host (Windows XP).

I'm assuming you are running with a Linux Host and have created a Windows XP virtual machine.

It appears as if you have entered a command or perhaps more than one to alter the configuration of
the Windows XP guest, which has resulted in the error message you posted.
What command(s) were used to alter the XP guest configuration ?

Furthermore, which particular piece of information are you interested in from msinfo32 ?
I'm assuming that it's from the System Summary display but there are other tabs as well,
so perhaps you could say which one ?
