Can't connect with older RDP clients

I have several Wyse 1200LE clients that are still working fine and I want to use them to connect with rdp to Virtualbox VMs.
When I try and connect, the connection is ended with no error message at the client. It works fine with newer clients (ie; MSTSC on windows)
Is there a specific RDP version required for the RDp client? Is there a setting I can change to aloow the Wyse 1200LE to connect to VirtualBox?
