How do I install an audio driver?
How do I install an audio driver?
Run a VM / Windows XP and open softwares with the error "full-duplex sound card required".
I checked the Control Panel and any multimedia audio device driver is not installed.
Access in ' Control Panel ' , will the Sounds and Audio Devices there is no standard playback device and not recording (there is no way to select anything, because the controls are disabled) .
In my ' VirtualBox> Settings> audio ' , audio is enabled and audio driver host> " sound windows direct " and audio controller: " ICH AC97 " .
I have to solve this? Thanks

Re: How do I install an audio driver?
- Start the VM. Not from a saved or suspended state. Clean start. Log in.
- Shut down the VM. Not suspended, not paused. Shut down.
- Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager. Select "Show Log..."
- Save it (just the first log), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Re: How do I install an audio driver?
I don't see anything unusual in the log.
If you go to Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Sound video and game controllers, you don't see the "Intel(r) 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller"? It there a triangle or a warning? Please post a screenshot of that panel.

I do not see any device " Intel (r ) AC'97 Audio Controller 82801AA " .
There is a "legacy audio" in detail see " Legacy Audio Drivers" -
Device Instance ID " ROOT \ MEDIA \ MS_MMDRV " as jpg attached.......
and " other devices " no question icon on " multimedia audio controller "

Can you see if "Scan for hardware changes" changes anything?

"Scan for hardware changes " , but nothing changes .
I tried to go to Start> Settings > Control Panel > Adminstrative Tools- > Services
Then find the list of services " Windows Audio" . This service is automatic.
Restarted and started but nothing happeneD,, but nothing changes .

Re: How do I install an audio driver?
OK, one last idea that I have is to "force" the hardware changes.
P.S. I might be out for 2-3 days, but I will get back to you, unless someone steps in.
- Shut down the VM.
- Go to VM settings -> Audio -> Audio Controller -> change it to "Intel HD Audio".
- Launch the VM, repeat the scan for hardware changes. Don't do anything, just force it to scan.
- Shut down the VM.
- Change back the Audio Controller to "ICH AC97.
- Relaunch the VM and scan for hardware changes. Now let it install the driver.

Re: How do I install an audio driver?
You need to shut down the VM before you make any changes.
Please do not post photographs from your cell phone(?). They're really difficult to deal with, they're large, low on detail and ... not straight. Use proper screenshots and trim them to the region of interest. Search Google for screenshots on your Windows host.
