Hello,
I have been using for years VB with XP on an old Macbook pro. Now I have tried to install the same on a Macbook Air, running El Capitan, and VB Version 5.0.22 r108108.
Now I think I have done everything exactly as on the other Mac, yet when I want to open a website in IE I get an error "Server or DNS cannot be found" except (!?!) when opening msn com
Any idea what this might be?
Many thanks in advance,
Caio

That would make you the only person in the world that knows the settings. Do you mind sharing them with the rest of us? What kind of network mode did you select for the VM? What's the output of the command "ipconfig" in the XP guest's Command Prompt?Caio1 wrote:Now I think I have done everything exactly as on the other Mac
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Re: IE will open only MSN website???
The problem proabely is that IE6 of XP is just too old to show websites with current encryption levels.
You could try installing another webbrowser like Firefox in your XP VM.

Re: IE will open only MSN website???
Thanks for getting back to both of you. I shall answer in turn:
For the network, it shows PCnet-FAST III (NAT)
As to a newer browser, I wanted to, but ran into yet another problem. Not being able to download it from the internet, I downloaded firefox on the host but I cannot move it so that I could instal it on the guest. I set up a shared folder Desktop Users/Caio/Desktop but it does not appear in the host's mac OS Finder?

Ah yes, ipconfig. Somehow I cannot copy it over to the mac OS even though the shared clipboard is activated. It says:
