Hi,
I started the process of deleting a snapshot, and then the power went out. After restarting my PC, the virtual machine won't start anymore. This is the error I get:
Could not open the medium 'D:\VMs\VirtualBox VMs\Windows 10 x64 extended\Windows_10_x64_extended-disk1.vmdk'.
VMDK: inconsistency between grain table and backup grain table in 'D:\VMs\VirtualBox VMs\Windows 10 x64 extended\Windows_10_x64_extended-disk1.vmdk' (VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_HEADER).

Re: Cannot start Virtual Machine after snapshot deletion failure
Help you how? You had a file physically damaged by a power cut - data fragility is an obvious consequence of using snapshots. It can be repaired by restoring from a backup. The only other thing you can do would be to revert to the previous snapshot (losing everything in the current one), but that might require manual repair of the vbox files.

Re: Cannot start Virtual Machine after snapshot deletion failure
I've tried reverting to other snapshots. I get the same error. Is there anything else I can do? How do I manually repair the file?mpack wrote:The only other thing you can do would be to revert to the previous snapshot (losing everything in the current one), but that might require manual repair of the vbox files.

Re: Cannot start Virtual Machine after snapshot deletion failure
I don't care about the snapshot (I was trying to delete it anyway). I just want my virtual machine to work again.

Re: Cannot start Virtual Machine after snapshot deletion failure
First, make a backup of the VM folder so we can't make anything worse.
Next, zip up the .vbox file from the VM folder, and attach the zip here. I can try to make the repairs manually for you.
