Shared Folder mapped twice in Win7 guest

I have a Windows 7 guest running on a Fedora 23 host in which I have set up a shared folder. When I log into my Windows VM, i have the shared folder mapped twice: once as \\VBOXSVR\Win7_Shared and once as \\vboxsrv\Win7_Shared. This isn't a huge problem, but does consume two of my drive letters in Windows and makes USB drive unhappy on occasion. In my Shared Folder settings of VBox, I only have one drive listed. I've also tried all combinations of unmapping, remapping, unchecking reconnect at login, remove the shard drive through the VBox Manager (GUI)... At this point, any time I map the desired target (\\VBOXSVR\Win7_Shared), I always get the other. I also see under my Network list in Windows Explorer that only VBOXSVR is noted - vboxsrv is not.

Any suggestions regarding how to remove \\vboxsrv\Win7_Shared?

No responses at all? Surely there's an easy way to fix this.

Possibly no-one responded because the display is quite normal in Windows File Manager; and it's to do with Microsoft Windows NOT VirtualBox, i.e. the \\VBOXSVR entries are simply the Windows 7 File Manager displaying the Network Path to your Shared Drive(s)/Folders, whereas the 'additional' display is showing the Shared Drive(s)/Folders as if they were Drives physically attached to the computer with their allocated Drive letters. This is just that same way Windows File Manager often displays more than one route to the same System Folders. There is no physical duplication of the Drive(s) being pointed to and no increased use of Drive letters.

If you believe this is an issue then it's a Windows issue, NOT a VirtualBox issue, as its Windows that is Displaying the information. Perhaps you need to develop a better understanding of how Windows File Manager handles the display of Network Drives and other Folders.

Wow, thanks for the lack of assistance and condescending tone. That is ever so helpful.

For the record, I do indeed see two drive letters assigned to the same shared folder, but with different network prefixes. More explicitly (which granted I should have mentioned in my first post):

E: \\vboxsrv\Win7_Shared
F: \\VBOXSRV\Win7_Shared

I also see listings under the Network heading, but I'm not concerned about those, only that I have an annoying situation that causes issues with some USB drives. As for whether I need to learn more about Windows networking, I'm sure you're right. In the future I will refrain from asking for assistance in a public forum until I'm fully capable of solving the problem without assistance from that public forum.

From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

Also

Post the guests log file ( as an attachment ). Right click on the guest in the Main Manager then click show log. Save and post as an attachment. Compress if it is too large to post.
