Virtual Box 5.0.24r108355 in a Windows Surface Pro 3 Docking Station connected to KVM
Host: Windows 10 Pro x64 Running on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 1TB
Guest: Windows 10 Pro x64 (upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate x64)
Before upgrading to Windows 10 I had been running this configuration for a long time.
Two things have changed:
1. Upgraded guest to Windows 10 Pro x64
2. Upgraded VirtualBox to 5.0.24 and upgrading guest additions to the same
I performed the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 by creating a new VM selecting Windows 10 as the target and without a hard drive. I then removed the VDI from the Windows 7 machine, moved the VDI to the Windows 10 machine and added it to the Windows 10 machine. This appeared to work fine. I think I was on VB 5.0.20 at the time.
Every now and then when typing I will suddenly see only uppercase characters. The Caps Lock is off and I try switch it back and forth and still get only uppercase characters. Even the number keys result in their uppercase characters (i.e. @, #, etc.). Holding the shift key down has no effect.
To recover I use Input\Keyboard\Ctrl-Alt-Del and hit cancel. Then the keyboard works normally.
The problem seemed to coincide with the upgrade of VB to 5.0.21. I don't think I had the problem before that but if I did I was able to regain normal keyboard operation by pressing the Caps Lock button twice. I definitely did not need to use Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Anyone else seeing this?
