Logitech Mouse Vertical (sideways) scrolling on win10 guest not working; works on ubuntu 16.04 host

I am trying to figure this out... I happen to unfortunately have to use windows for onenote. There is just not a viable alternative : (.

I have a MX Anywhere 2, and had a MX Master... the MX master is broken so I am left with the MX Anywhere 2...

It is a combination mouse... it can connect by either Bluetooth, or usb receiver. I prefer the bluetooth.

Regardless of the connection, I can not get the sideways / vertical scroll function, which is the scroll wheel pressed left or right to work.

On the MX master it was a thumb scroll wheel.

On ubuntu, it works fantastic.

I really need this working in windows 10 guest.

I see solutions for VMWare, but I really like virtualbox and would prefer to stay with virtualbox. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have the enhancements download installed
the guest add ons
and have tried enabling / disabling mouse integration.

As an alternative solution to paying for closed source or using windows, I have used the program autohotkey and the following script to ad horizontal scrolling in windows 10 with onenote 2016.

;-------------------------------------------
;---------------OneNote---------------------
;-------------------------------------------
SetTitleMatchMode,2

#IfWinActive OneNote
~LShift & WheelUp:: ; Scroll left.
ControlGetFocus, fcontrol, A
Loop 2 ; <-- Increase this value to scroll faster.
SendMessage, 0x114, 0, 0, %fcontrol%, A ; 0x114 is WM_HSCROLL and the 0 after it is SB_LINELEFT.
return

~LShift & WheelDown:: ; Scroll right.
ControlGetFocus, fcontrol, A
Loop 2 ; <-- Increase this value to scroll faster.
SendMessage, 0x114, 1, 0, %fcontrol%, A ; 0x114 is WM_HSCROLL and the 1 after it is SB_LINERIGHT.
return
#IfWinActive
