I have Kubuntu 16.04 working with the guest additions 5.0.18 installed from the package manager. I'd like to upgrade to guest additions 5.0.22 because it fixes bugs I'm experiencing. However, I can't find a way to install 5.0.22 . The new version is not in the ubuntu package manager. I tried creating a new guest and installing from the .iso. It seems to install fine and the guest additions are running, but none of the features are working. I can see VBoxClient running using the ps command and lsmod shows that several vbox modules are loaded. Any idea what's wrong / further troubleshooting steps? Does anyone have 5.0.22 guest additions working on Kubuntu 16.04 and if so what install procedure did you use?

There will be no 5.0.22 additions for the repo version until they decide to upgrade. Even then you must not use a newer version of the guest additions than the actual build or there will be problems. That said you have another issue. We do not support the repo version of VirtualBox they do. You can however install the official version from virtualbox.org and have it all.

Nope, have it all means that you will have the latest program, guest additions, Extension pack, and help here. Otherwise you have to seeks help from Ubuntu.

I wonder if there's any other way to get rid of the bugs I have... the worst one is that the "text cursor" mouse is always about 10 pixels off. This makes it very hard to use. I found a bug on the tracker that says it's fixed in 5.0.22. I guess I just have to wait for Ubuntu 16.10 -- 5.0.22 is in the repos for that.
