Console hangs after Guest Additions install on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus

Host is Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus
Guest is also Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus
VirtualBox install is 5.0.22

Everything works great until Guest Additions are installed on the Guest. Then the console hangs (attached screen shot). Unable to move to a different console with Alt-F2. However I am able to SSH into the VM and it appears to be working fine. If I uninstall Guest Additions I get my console login screen.

Tried an older guest running on Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr) and installed Guest Additions 5.0.22. Everything works great on Trusty and I get the console with the latest version of Guest Additions installed.

The attached Guest dmesg output suggests the guest advances beyond where the console is stuck.

Is this an issue with Xenial?

Figured out what the issue was! I had my video ram set to 1 MB. This was sufficient as it was a non-GUI server but happens to lock up console in Xenial. I bumped it up to 2 MB and no more console hangs!
