Hi

Sorry if my question is a bit vague or obvious. New to this.

I badly need to run an old XP programme on Kubuntu 16. I went through VB setup but get following error when I opened VB. I have added attachment to post
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows XP.

The virtual machine 'Windows XP' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

See if SecureBoot is enabled in the host bios and if so disable it.

You can fix this but it is a Host signing issue and as such would need to be fixed on the host.

See your PC manufacture documentation on how to boot to bios and how to disable SecureBoot.

I did this but still get same problem. Also tried to create 32-bit XP as well as Windows 7 but no luck

Did you also re-compile the VBox kernel modules?

elevated user:
  • rcvboxdrv setup
Or just re-install.
