I am having trouble making a virtual machine of windows 10 home addition on my Linux mint ROSA 17.3 MATE ASUS laptop. I encounter an error that reads:

We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load driver.

This appears in the bottom of the installation window before anything actually starts installing. I can supply any information I missed out on. Thanks!

I have never seen that message installing Windows 10 in a vm. If you open the settings of your vm, what does it say for Type and Version?

I'm not sure what you were asking for (did I mention I know nothing). I am running virtual box version 5 if that's what you were after. I am trying to run the windows 10 public pre-release you can download from their website. It's 64 bit, if that helps. Otherwise, you would have to be a bit more specific. Windows 10 never really gives me any options to interact with it other than downloading it onto the virtual machine. It's not the most virtual machine friendly OS, but it works. Thanks for your answer, hope I can provide you with some info.

Well, short of anything better I'd go with believing what the message says: i.e. somehow you didn't include hard disks in your VM recipe. I suggest that you start again, use the VM creation wizard, and take each step slowly.

p.s. I assume the download you mention is an installer ISO, not a VM.

Hello everyone, thanks for putting your two cents in on my problem. The error was that I did not have a virtual hard drive on my machine. If you have my error, follow these instructions:
exit out of your virtual machine and enter settings for your desired VM. From there, go to storage. You will see the word "Controller" next to a small image of a CD/DVD and a hard drive. Click the hard drive and follow the set-up procedure. This fixed the problem for me, hopefully it does for you too. Thanks to mpack and BillG for their help.
