shared folder not available from OS X to Win7

Post by ciamurra »

Host: X 10.11.1 on new iMac, 64 bit, 8 GB
Guest: Windows 7 64 bit, 512 mg ram
VB 5.0.20 r106931
Guest Additions installed

After setting up a shared folder on the Mac host, I don't see it from Windows guest. This is first and only VM on the Mac. The clipboard is working bi-directionally. The message I get is the adapter is not connected.

I apologize for asking a simple question that must have been answered at least 1000 times, but despite searching the forums and the manual, I haven't found out why the folder doesn't show up on the network drive.

Thank you,

ciamurra

When you say you don't see the shared folder, where did you look?

Guest Additions shared folders don't use the network, so I'll ignore your aside about the network adapter not being connected.

To find your shared folder, look in Win7's "network neighborhood". Look inside the "VBoxSVC" server branch.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Yesterday I was searching the Windows directory "Computer." After signing off/shutting down last night, I returned this morning and there it was.
Thank you again. Now to the next step. I'll write a new post outlining my inability to install Quicken2016 from Apple optical drive or shared folder with Windows disk image (.iso) or flash drive with same.
