W7, installation-error

I´m using LinuxMint 17.3
I have tried to install W7-32 (Home Basic) in VBox.
The installation is very slow, after over 2 hours it had expanded the files 90%.
Then it stops, and shows this errormessage:
"Windows cannot install required files.
The file does not exist.
Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
Error code: 0x80070003
"
There is nothing wrong with the W7 install-files.
I used the same W7-ISO to create a VM on W7 without problems.
Installing W7 (no VM) normally takes 7 minutes....
I have done a quick search, this errorcode on W7 is about windows update.
But i´m not updating, i´m trying to install W7 in VBox...
I have allocated over 4GB RAM & 20 GB harddisk for this VM, which should be enough...
Any ideas ?

How did you copy the ISO to your Mint host? Did you happen to use a USB stick? Formatted perhaps as FAT32? Did you check the checksum of the ISO to make sure it's not corrupted?

Actually, you searched for "Error code: 0x80070003". Try searching for "install Error code: 0x80070003" and you will get installation error results.
BTW, I believe that the error message that you posted is not complete. It should state which files are missing/cannot be installed. Finally, take the following steps:
- Start the VM. Not from a saved or suspended state. Clean start.
- Take the steps required to generate/observe the error.
- Record the error message. EXACTLY. Post a screenshot if you have to.
- Shut down the VM (if it hasn't aborted by itself). Not suspended, not paused. Shut down. If you can't shut it down by normal means, close the VM window and select "Power off".
- Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager.
- Select "Show Log..."
- Save it (just the first one), ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).

I didn´t copy the W7-ISO.
LinuxMint have access to my docs and media-partition, so i ran the installation directly from disk.
And that error-message is the
whole message.
There is no filelist.
And the message said: "Error code: 0x80070003" not "install Error code: 0x80070003".
So of course i searched for
Error code: 0x80070003
But i will do another search...
I will also check the VM-log.

I deleted another NTFS-partition, created a ext4-parttion, moved both the W7-ISO and the VM-folder on that partition.
And the W7-installation was complete in 7 minutes.

As i suspected it was the NTFS-partition that screwed up the installation.
Problem solved !
I don´t know if it was the W7-ISO or the VM-folder (or both) that caused the problems.
I might try installing again, just to find out.
Lesson learned: Don´t use an NTFS-partition...
