Ubuntu 8.04 host, 8.04 server guest, host key not responding

Hi,

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and I have the following issue:

When I start a new VM in VirtualBox, the host key does not seems to work and eventually makes my computer freeze:
- when I click on the VM screen, the host key turns green as expected in the bottom right corner but at this stage, the guest OS freezes and the host key does not respond which mean that my whole computer is frozen.

I have tried to change the host key from the default (CTRL-RIGHT) to another key (LEFT-WIN) but I still get the same issue. I did not find any log to include here, is there any information I can report to make this all clearer?

Thanks,

Julien.

according to here http://argent-software.blogspot.com/200 ... se-in.html, after I uncheck the 'Enable support to enter complex characters'
and reboot, everything is fine:)

Hey,

Thanks a lot for the tip, I will try that :)

Do you think it might be related to the Chinese input method I have installed on my Ubuntu?

Julien.

definitely, but the good news is that even you uncheck the box, scim still works.

dont remove scim, just uncheck the box

Hi,

On my machine the issue was definitely related to SCIM, a friend of mine pointed me the good solution:

install the scim-bridge-client-qt package

Hope this will work for you

Julien.
