Lost host wireless networking after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04

Hi Guys, I'm a fresher so don't byte plz.
I tried to install a driver for my linksys wireless (Linksys WUSB6300 802.11a/b/g/n/ac) usb adapter on Ubuntu 15.04 some time ago but to no avail so I continued using my Belkin USB wireless adapter that worked albeit slow.
Since Ubuntu 16.04 was release I thought I would checkout whether or not new drivers would now be compatible, so I carried out a fresh install and tested the Linksys adapter, to my surprise it worked. With this understanding I decided to upgrade my main system that comprised Virtualbox 5.0.20 r106931. After the install I was not able to get the Linksys adapter to work, though it was clearly identifiable in lsusb listing from the command line.
Ok, I removed Virtualbox using synaptic and rebooted, then the linksys adapter worked just fine. I downloaded a fresh copy of Vbox and associated files from here and installed again. No, it knocked out the networking again.
Does anyone know why Virtualbox would want to do this to Linksys ?
I have attached 2 files in a zip, [ Virtualbox log ] and [ lsusb ] listing.
Cheers
