Slow Name Resolution with Internal Network

Hi all,
I am using VirtualBox to run three VMs, namely:
VM1: A domain controller
VM2: A server hosting a service
VM3: A client machine connecting to VM2
The network settings of all these VMs is as shown in the attached screenshot. All VMs are joined to the domain controlled by VM1, running Windows Server 2008 R2, have their Windows Firewalls OFF and are not running any other firewalls. As you would expect, pinging between the servers is almost instantaneous (<1ms latency). However, name resolution is quite slow. For example, running a trace route from VM3 to VM2 takes ~12 seconds. When I run the trace route without name resolution (i.e., tracert -d), it is instantaneous. Has anybody else experienced this, and if so, do you have any suggestions as to how to reduce the time it takes for name resolution?
Thanks
