Ubunt hangs on startup Win7 host

Post by Rodrii »

Hello i got some issue and i can't locate what is wrong. I got my Win7 host and i try to start Ubuntu Mint but when i chose to start my guest system it hangs the same is happening when i try to run new machine and instal new Ubuntu from iso.

So the laptop is Lenovo ideaPad 510y VirtualBox version 5.0.18, Host 64 bit version guest 32 bit.

Any help will be appreciated.

#Edit

I increased ram from 512 to 2048MB and change logs this time i get logs from powerd off machine.
As for success in instaling Ubuntu its success i gues its not my machine i get it for the project and other users just start it with no problem.
I downloaded official Ubuntu mint iso from the website and try to setup my own instancion but it hangs out in the same moment.

Moved to Linux Guests.

On your host I think you can afford to give the guest more than 512MB RAM. I'd suggest 2048MB.

Also, please don't provide logs of sessions that are still running. We need to see the complete session, which means you need to close the VM first, or choose the log from a previous session.

In the log you chose to provide there is no ISO attached, and the guest OS appears to fail to boot from the virtaul hdd. Are you saying that you succeeding in installing Ubuntu from the ISO? Because it certainly won't boot from the hdd if you didn't. Please clarify how far you got in installing this OS.

I doubt that I can help you with this. I can see nothing wrong with the VM, so if the guest OS doesn't boot I can only assume that the VM settings do not match the requirements of the guest OS. Since you can't tell me anything about the requirements of the guest OS then we are stuck.

I would much rather that you installed your own Linux Mint 32bit guest from scratch, from the official ISO, and using the normal VirtualBox Mint-32bit template. At least then we'd have some knowns to work with.

Btw: the complete hardening log shows an exit code of zero, meaning you are not having hardening related problems so there is no need to keep providing that log.

What is the exact name of the install media you are trying to install and post the location from where you got it.
