Network setup on vms

Post by devd »

In my desktop at home I created two centos vms on oracle virtual box. I have selected "Bridge network" for both vms. Issue is I am not able to ping the vms from desktop.

And also I have installed apache on both vms. I am not able to access the apache from desktop.

Is this issue with the network setup or is this issue with iptables.

On CENTOS6 i have stopped iptables service as well but still not working.

What is the best practise for setting up the network for vms.

Using bridged you will probably have your issues in the guest and not VirtualBox. ICMP and Apache are probably disallowed by default in your guest/s so instead of stopping iptables you should define and enable the ports you need. See CentOS for the proper procedure.
