Hi everyone,
I have a Vbox with 2 vdis. One for the OS and programs and another for the file storage. This second one is in an external HD. If I take a snapshot of my Vbox am I backing up both Vdis?
The thing is:
I have a software (Groupoffice) installed under Debian with a database (vdi 1). I must be sure that this DB is always synced with the files in the external HD (vdi 2).
The same thing for the mail server... Debian with ISP Config in a VDI and all the emails stored in another VDI.
Am I being clear? Do you think this is the best way to do it?
Thanks,
Triole

Absolutely not. Snapshots are not a backup of any kind. They create an instance in time that you can run on but is dependant on the main VDI image. Think of snapshots like a house of cards. Remove one and the whole thing collapses. If your data is important at all you do not want to use snapshots ever. Backup the entire Virtual directory which has your main and control files to a different drive. If I take a snapshot of my Vbox am I backing up both Vdis?
Use these instructions which are for moving guests but is actually the same for backing up.
How to move guests created with => version 4.*
